CURRENT PROJECTS
,Zziba Village is one of the villages in Kasanje Town Councils Wakiso District Uganda 35 kilometers from the Kampala City Centre, with over 10,000 Inhabitants with No easy Access to Clean and Safe Water for use which has led to Children and Women in this Community travel many kilometers to access available water sources and of which water is unprotected and shared with livestock,wild dogs and other wild animals. This has caused so many cases of water related diseases like diarrhoea and dysentery esppecially in Children leading to premature death.
Sanitation and Hygiene project for Children with Physical Disabilities. The aim of this project is to improve Sanitation and hygiene for Children with physical disabilities in School in Uganda. Many infrastructures for Sanitation and hygiene in Schools of Uganda don’t cater for CWD (Children with Disabilities) which has led to low school enrollment for such category of children Our mission is to advocate for Inclusive Facilities in Schools and other public infrastructure places. We believe CWD also have a right to enjoy life like other normal Children.
This project was initiated to celebrate our Ugandan and German friendship originating from Idstein Town Frankfurt with JUZ IDSTEIN and a Non For-Profit Organization PEOPLE HELP PEOPLE ONE WORLD IDSTEIN GERMANY and Ugandans for a long time doing Social projects in Uganda. ACTVITIES OF THE PROJECT: This project started in 2019 and involves mobilizing young people to obtain vocational and technical skills to help them become creative and innovative so they can become competitive in the job market and also create their own employment. We partner with other vocational and technical training institutes to train our young people in communities at an affordable fee for 3-to-6-month training and there after a certificate is issued. Power Minds Youth Organization takes the responsibility of also training the young people business management and financial accessibility to kick start their own projects. However, where necessary the Organization extends some little investment capital for an organized group to begin. Trainings are normally done twice a year at our different youth centers in Wakiso. Currently 100 young people have benefited from our Vocational and Technical training Project in Wakiso District
ORPHANED CHILDREN AND ELDERLY ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT AND WELFARE PROJECT WAKISO DSITRICT This is a 2-year project involve constructing a Shelter or house for over 30 orphaned children and 5 elderly persons in Kasanje village 35 kilo meters from the capital Kampala and providing necessities for the kids’ inclusive education and scholastic materials. We also plan to create commercial agricultural activities or farming for this project in order to keep the supply of food for the children and constant sustainable income
YOUTH IDEAS FOR SPORT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PROJECT The project aims to develop and/or re-establish a life-long love of participation in sport or physical activity in an environment that is different to the existing traditional offerings based on what young people actually want. OUR THEME Offer multiple sporting opportunities to try, keep changing the activities to decrease possible boredom and increase the ability to learn new sports, Include music to engage youth by having school bands, entertainment and radio stations present, Allow youth to run events, Include activities that are wheelchair inclusive, Include an opportunity to upskill youth interested in coaching or refereeing, Ensure youth can play with their friends (rather than be put into teams) to encourage the element of fun. Currently we have 2 mobilized groups of young people between age 7 to 15 involved in different sports training activities. This Project has helped young people acquire self-esteem and social skills which has made them believe in their abilities. The initially out of school children are now back to school as a result of the project
CONSTRUCTION OF WATER SOURCES FOR SCHOOLS IN KASANJE This project involves construction and rehabilitation of water sources for schools to access affordable Clean and purified water for both domestic and school use. Since 2013 PMYO has constructed over 5 Water Sources for in the Communities in Wakiso especially near schools. Our main aim is to reduce on the time spent by pupils walking kilometers to collect water and finally increase more hours for classroom work in schools
RENOVATION OF PMYO YOUTH EMPOWERMENT AND DEVELOPMENT CENTER KASANJE TOWN COUNCIL WAKISO DISTRICT
Environmental Conservation and Management: We believe that nature is gradually getting endangered. Our point of intervention is educate, train and inform communities about environmental degradation in general like climate change cause, effects and possible solutions in regarding Uganda’s climate change policies of adaptation and mitigation, practicing of 6rs i.e. reuse, recycle, refuse etc., is also one of the interventions we employ to manage our environment. We partnered with National Environmental Protection Unit and the community environmental authorities to plant over 2040 indigenous trees in communities of wakiso, we also involve schools through forming environmental clubs to instil in the young people, the enthusiasm of caring for the nature and accepts climate change as the world scourge that we must act to reverse the effects.
YOUTH MENTORSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM This program involves preparing young people for work. We facilitate school-to-work transition for students and recent graduates in higher institutions of learning through experiential training, entry-level work placement and mentor matching, Volunteer and internship and curate creative education products and experiences that prepare young people for future work as entrepreneurs, professionals and social justice champions. Over the last 2 years, we have: Delivered work-readiness training for over 1000 young people (University students and High school graduates), Conducted career sessions for over 2000 high school students, achieved 70% transition rate for entry-level work opportunities within 18 months of completion, Built a mentorship network of over 100 professionals, Established Volunteer based programs and projects that have seen over 100 young people work to acquire experience and knowledge
Every month in our Organisation program of uplifting communities, the young people donate lots of food, and other house hold necesities to Children and women in diiferent communities in Uganda
