We educate, train and inform communities about environmental degradation in general like climate change cause, effects and possible solutions in regarding Uganda’s climate change policies of adaptation and mitigation, practicing of 6rs i.e. reuse, recycle, refuse etc., is also one of the interventions we employ to manage our environment.
We partnered with National Environmental Protection Unit and the community environmental authorities to plant over 2040 indigenous trees in communities of wakiso
We also involve schools through forming environmental clubs to instil in the young people, the enthusiasm of caring for the nature and accepts climate change as the world scourge that we must act to reverse the effects.

ACTVITIES OF THE PROJECT:
This project started in 2019 and involves mobilizing young people to obtain vocational and technical skills to help them become creative and innovative so they can become competitive in the job market and also create their own employment.
We partner with other vocational and technical training institutes to train our young people in communities at an affordable fee for 3-to-6-month training and there after a certificate is issued.
Power Minds Youth Organization takes the responsibility of also training the young people business management and financial accessibility to kick start their own projects.
However, where necessary the Organization extends some little investment capital for an organized group to begin.
Trainings are normally done twice a year at our different youth centers in Wakiso. Currently 100 young people have benefited from our Vocational and Technical training Project in Wakiso District
PMYO receives funding from our partners in Germany who constantly support this project through fundraisings and donations of machinery or training equipment’s.
The mobilized young people also contribute a small fee for training materials during the training sessions.
REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH FOR VULNERABLE ADOLSCENT GIRLS PROGRAMReproductive health of vulnerable adolescent girls is a top priority in our programs.
These adolescent girls are at risk of AIDS and other STDs, unwanted pregnancies, illegal and unsafe abortions, unplanned pregnancy and childbirth, and unsafe motherhood.
Therefore, this program involves assessing these girls’ reproductive health needs and designing programs to improve their sexual and reproductive health that are essential.
We conduct a designed comprehensive program for improving the reproductive health of vulnerable adolescent girls.
The program runs through peer education and training of trainee program which also involve village health team volunteers and schools.
Currently we have our main centers in Kasanje town council wakiso District where every month over 100 teenage girls are mobilized for trainings and sensitization activities.
YOUTH IDEAS FOR SPORT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PROJECTThe project aims to develop and/or re-establish a life-long love of participation in sport or physical activity in an environment that is different to the existing traditional offerings based on what young people actually want.
- Offer multiple sporting opportunities to try, keep changing the activities to decrease possible boredom and increase the ability to learn new sports.
- Include music to engage youth by having school bands, entertainment and radio stations present.
- Allow youth to run events.
- Include activities that are wheelchair inclusive.
- Include an opportunity to upskill youth interested in coaching or refereeing.
- Ensure youth can play with their friends (rather than be put into teams) to encourage the element of fun.
Currently we have 2 mobilized groups of young people between age 7 to 20 involved in different sports training activities. This Project has helped young people acquire self-esteem and social skills which has made them believe in their abilities.
The initially out of school children are now back to school as a result of the project
