This project was initiated to celebrate our Ugandan and German friendship originating from Idstein Town Frankfurt with JUZ IDSTEIN and a Non for Profit Organization PEOPLE HELP PEOPLE ONE WORLD IDSTEIN GERMANY and Ugandans for a long time doing Social projects in Uganda.

UGANDAN-GERMAN FRIENDSHIP TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTER
Background of the Project:
To Provide a Competitive Skilled Young people through Technical and Vocational Education to scale down the unemployment gap and contribute to sustainable national economic growth and poverty reduction in Uganda’ ‘It involves Training Young people in practical Technical and Vocational Skills to scale down the unemployment gap and rampant migration of young people for employment in other countries.
Is to ensure that young individuals between the ages of 11 to 25 acquire the skills they need to raise productivity, self-employment and income.
Why this Project:
Young people represent more than 70 percent of Uganda’s total population and account for the largest proportion of the total labor force. The country’s population is becoming more youthful, with youth as a proportion of the total population projected to increase due to the high fertility rates. However, this growing population of youth is happening in the midst of high school dropout rates, unemployment and exclusion of the young people/youth from productive economic and social life.
Short Course Offered
Ugandan-German Friendship Technical and Vocational Training Center offers short term training course like: Agricultural and Commercial Livestock Training, Woodworking, Motor vehicle repairing, Sheet metal and plumbing, Welding and fabrication, Brick/Block laying and concrete practice, Auto – Electrical, Bakery and cookery, Entrepreneurship, Small and Medium Scale Manufacturing, Art and Crafts product development and Business management skills
Out of school Youth, fresh graduates who need apprentice skills development, Teenage Mothers and fathers, Widows and Single mothers, High school students. Out of School girls
Location: Kasanje Town Council, Kampala Slum areas.
Trainers and Administration of the Project:
Ugandan-German TVET is managed by Project Managers of Power Minds Youth Organization (PMYO) and Course trainings are done by Professional TVET trainers from reputable Ugandan government Business Technical and Vocational Training Schools (BTVET). Most of them work on Voluntary System for the Organization
Currently the admission to the project is free of charge but the students only caters for their lunch and pay a small fee for materials to be used during training
Sustainability of the Project:
This project depends on fundraisings done by friends and family of Power Minds Youth Organization both in Germany and Uganda and also through the sales of the good quality products made by the students during training.
